FedEx driver’s ankle run over during car-jacking; police search for suspect

The suspect drove over the driver's ankle then fled.

ATLANTA -- Carjackings are, sadly, not unheard of in metro-Atlanta, but perhaps the theft of this type of vehicle is.

Atlanta police are investigating after a FedEx van was stolen in northwest Atlanta late Monday evening.

On Monday, December 11, police responded to an auto theft on the 2000 block of Village Crest Drive at around 8:00 p.m. When the officer arrived, they met with the driver of the FedEx box van, Bolivia Powell.

Powell stated she was in the rear of the box van and unloading packages for delivery when a man wearing a ski mask got into the driver's seat of the van. She had only been with the company since September and said she has been a truck driver for a long time. She said nothing like this has ever happened to her before.

Powell said that she did not have any broken bones but she did have a few scrapes and a wounded knee.

The victim jumped out of the vehicle and hit the back of her head on the rear end of the van and landed on her back. Powell then said the suspect reversed the van and ran over her right ankle.

The suspect drove away in the van and headed towards James Jackson parkway.

Police later located the FedEx van on the 1500 block of Glenrock Drive NW. There was no damage done to the van and there were still boxes inside.

No information on a suspect or motive has been released.
