Suspect opens fire in Kroger parking lot after victim refuses to give up

"Open your car," the suspect said. "We going to ride together, I should kill you right now for resisting."

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Fulton County police are on the lookout for an armed robbery suspect who forcibly took a man's wallet and opened fire outside a local Kroger grocery store.

According to a report filed by responding officers, the incident happened just after midnight on Wednesday at 6055 Old National Highway.

Police were in the area for a business check when one heard a gunshot and began to investigate. The report states that the officer saw two black males in black and dark gray clothing that were sprinting across the street from the Kroger Plaza.

The officer then rushed to the area where the two men were escaping to look for a possible shooting victim.

That's where he found a bleeding man and a 9MM round.

The victim told police that he was loading his truck when he was approached by one of two men near his car.

"What's up, what you got for me?" the victim said he was asked. "Give me your keys and everything."

The victim then refused when the suspect demanded his keys.

The suspect became more aggressive at this point even threatening to kill the shopper and eventually striking him in the head. The victim said he continued to refuse and the suspect ultimately wrestled his wallet away from him.

That's when the robber then cocked a gun and demanded the victim get in the car.

"Open your car," the suspect said. "We going to ride together, I should kill you right now for resisting."

But the victim still refused, telling the suspect "I'm tired of this" before heading back toward the store. That's when the now-armed attacker opened fire striking the window of the grocery store.

The victim later refused treatment and the investigation has since been turned over to Fulton County detectives for further investigation.
