ATLANTA — The Fulton County District Attorney confirmed he is not going forward with rape charges against a former Georgia Tech football player, citing a lack of evidence.

Adam Gotsis, who is currently a defensive end for the Denver Broncos, was charged with one count of felony rape related to a 2013 incident, in which he allegedly raped a woman at a party.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, the 30-year-old victim told police back in February she met Gotsis through a mutual friend and attended a party with him back in March 2013. She told police after the party, Gotsis took her to his home where he raped her.

After speaking to the victim, investigators secured a warrant for Gotsis' arrest.

Gotsis turned himself over to authorities and was booked into the Fulton County Jail March 7, 2018 on a felony rape charge. He was released the same day after a judge issued him a $50,000 bond.

In a statement, D.A. Paul Howard said he decided not to move forward with the case after a "careful and thorough investigation."

"The Fulton County District Attorney's Office has decided not to proceed with the case against Mr. Adam Gotsis," Howard said. "My office understands the sensitivity and significance of these investigations, but the evidence presented does not warrant any further action in this case."
