#HireMark: Atlanta nonprofit seeks job for homeless man

Mark Moore is not panhandling or asking for a hand out. He's asking for a hand up.

It's the third day Mark Moore has stood on downtown street corners. But the homeless man is not panhandling or asking for a hand out. He's asking for a hand up.

And he's not alone.

Terence Lester, Exec. Director of Love Beyond Walls, has made it his personal mission to get Mark a job, permanent house and on a fresh foot for 2018. Lester, launching the #HireMark social campaign, has been standing with a "Hire Mark" sign as Moore greets passersby and hands out resumes.

"I'm going to continue to wear this sign, not only until [Mark] has interviews but gets an actual job," Lester said.

According to Lester, the journey started a year ago when the two met while Moore was digging through a dumpster, looking for food. Since then, the nonprofit has helped Moore get an ID, open a bank account and prep his resume.

But Moore hasn't always been homeless. On Friday, he stood on the street near the building where he once worked. But getting back on his feet required outside support, he said.

"I hope by sharing this story and sharing my pain it can help others and inspire others," Moore said. "And inspire other people to help others."
