Cobb County Papa John's delivers free pizzas to Georgia Power crews

The winter storm, known as Benji, knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of Georgians on Friday and Saturday.

Georgia Power crews who’ve been working around the clock to restore power to customers after the unexpected winter storm got a hot meal courtesy of Papa John’s in Powder Springs on Sunday.

Pizzas were delivered to crews at the intersection of Old Austell and Grady Grier drives in Powder Springs.

The winter storm, known as Benji, knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of Georgians on Friday and Saturday. As of 3:30 pm, Georgia Power said about 20,000 customers are still without power, and the utility has restored power to 330,000 customers.

Georgia Power said that as of 11 am Sunday, about 36,000 customers remained without electricity after this weekend's challenging winter weather. Georgia’s electric membership cooperatives at the same time reported about 69,000 customers remain without power.
