LAMAR COUNTY, Ga. — Members of a central Georgia flying community are recovering after crashing in the woods Saturday morning.

Lamar County first responders arrived at Redbone Run off of Community House Road around 11 a.m. to reports of a small plane in the woods.

Four people were on the airplane when it crashed and each was taken to Macon Medical Hospital to be checked out. Lamar County officials took to social media to announce that their injuries didn't appear to be serious.

The pilot told responders that the plane appeared to have a mechanical failure on takeoff and veered to the left. He said they were about tree-level when the plane started coming down.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been called in to investigate.  This would become the first of two plane crashes reported across Georgia on Saturday. The second one, in Gainesville, left one person dead and another with serious injuries.
