Home invasion suspect shot, killed; 2 suspects still at large

The homeowner suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Gwinnett County Police have identified a home invasion suspect who was shot and killed on the 800 block of Cainbridge Drive.

Shortly before 3:00 a.m., on January 8, officers were called to a neighborhood in Lawrenceville for reports of gun shots.

According to Corporal Frederick Saldana, when officers arrived to the home, they found the homeowner suffering from a gunshot wound in his leg. Officers quickly applied a tourniquet.

The homeowner told police that while he was sleeping, he heard the backdoor crash in and he to investigate what the noise was. He armed himself before inspecting what the noise was.

He encountered three males and both sides began to exchange gunfire.

The three suspects then fled the home.

Officers found the body of Jerrod Terrell, 20, in the backyard of a home a few blocks down from the original crime scene.

Investigators believe this was an attempted home invasion. There are two suspects that are still at large.

No word on the condition of the homeowner was given.
