GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The Gwinnett Fire Department and area police have shut down a major thoroughfare in the county as crews work to extinguish a fire that happened on Friday evening.
According to Gwinnett Police, a truck fire is responsible for the emergency response on eastbound State Route 316 at Winder Highway. As such, traffic is being diverted down Winder Highway; though, driver are urged to find alternate routes
Photos from the scene appear to show several fire trucks on the scene with one soaking the top of a tractor-trailer load using a hose and ladder.
Gwinnett Fire reported around 9:28 p.m. that their crews had knocked down the heaviest parts of the fire and were working to put out hotspots.
No clearing time was provided and the cause of the fire has not yet been released.
