Discussion:
Cloud cover moved in ahead of a cold front, and rain is back in the forecast for Wednesday as the cold front passes. Rain chances remain low at only 20% for Atlanta which means much of the area will stay dry. Shower coverage improves up to the northwest of the state.
It will be a mostly cloudy but dry start to the day on Wednesday.
A line of showers and storms pushes in from the northwest by the early afternoon.
Rain will spread to the southeast during the second half of the day. Showers and storms will weaken as they push across the state.
There is a very low threat for an isolated strong to severe storm that could produce heavy rain, gusty winds, and hail. Portions of the area are included in the Storm Prediction Center's marginal level 1 risk.
Despite the clouds and chance for rain, temperatures will still be warm. It's a mild start on Wednesday with lows in the upper 50s and low 60s then afternoon highs still climb to near 80°.
We dry out on Thursday and clouds clear, but the break from rain chances will be short-lived. Humidity builds for the end of the week, and scattered showers stay in the forecast Friday through the weekend.
