StormTrackers Blog: Heat and humidity return for a while

After this weekend, the heat and humidity return

I hope you have had the chance to enjoy the dry weather we've had so far.

If you haven't yet, get outside this weekend because the heat and humidity are coming back next week and it may be a couple of weeks until we get another cool spell.

Our weather pattern switch all comes down to the jet stream and how it is behaving. When that front came through Tuesday, the jet stream was overhead pushing the front through the region.

In this upcoming pattern, the jet stream will be pushed much further north allowing tropical moisture to return.

So, what does that mean for you?

It means we will have low rain chances, 20-30%, about every day beginning Tuesday lasting for about the next two weeks. Each day there is also the possibility of smaller isolated storms developing into a line of strong storms but organized severe weather isn't expected.

Our next shot at a cold front right now looks to be around the September 6-8 time frame.

High pressure will be overhead limiting any sort of widespread rain chances during the day.

That high pressure may also prove hazardous for people sensitive to the ground level ozone and smog and orange alerts for air quality will likely be issued.
