BROOKHAVEN, Ga -- Police said they have used every tool available to find a 78-year-old woman, and now police and the woman's church are asking the public to share her picture in hopes she will be found.
The last time anyone who knew Janet Sue Miller, saw her, was at Brookhaven Baptist Church on Christmas Eve. She was attending a 6-PM service.
A deacon said the last time he saw her she was standing by the Christmas tree wishing fellow parishioners a Merry Christmas."It's been seven days and she's never gone missing like this," said Deacon Andy Swamy.
Swamy said Miller has dementia, and it has become evident in the past eight months."She would come into church (for Bible study) and sometimes she would not be able to figure out what floor she was on or what room the studies were being held," he said.
Miller has been a fixture at Brookhaven Baptist. She was a nurse by profession and used her profession on church missions to China for 30-years.
Miller did not own a car and walked everywhere, especially to and from church. She live in the Brookstone apartments, about a half mile from the church on Briarwood Road.
Brookhaven Police thoroughly searched wooded areas along the route she would have walked using tracking dogs and a helicopter from DeKalb County. They but found nothing.
Church members posted flyers all along many of her walking routes. "When we were posting up flyers when she disappeared everybody knew who we were looking for," Swamy said.
Deacon Swamy said Miller has no family in Atlanta, but she has the eyes and the ears of the church and neighborhood community."Right now we would be just more than happy to find her," he said. "We know God takes care of the Godly and we just don't want her to be hurt in any way."
Janet Sue Miller is 5' 03" tall, weighs about 90-lbs and has long gray hair and blue eyes. Brookhaven Police are asking anyone who might know where she is to call them at 404-637-0600.
