DECATUR, Ga. — One person is dead following a head-on crash in Decatur early Sunday morning, police said.
Decatur Police were called out to the intersection of South Candler Street and Midway Road around 6:55 a.m. Sunday to investigate a two-vehicle crash.
The initial investigation revealed that the driver of a Dodge Charger was driving recklessly southbound on South Candler Street. Police said the driver of the Charger tried to pass a car that was driving in the same direction and crossed into the center northbound lanes before wrecking head-on into an Infiniti QX4 that was traveling northbound.
A passenger in the Infiniti suffered critical injuries before being rushed to the hospital, where he died. The victim was identified as 63-year-old Frankie Gresham of Decatur.
Police said charges will be brought on the driver of the Charger once the investigation gets further along.
