Adrianne "Addie" Haney is an EMMY Award-winning journalist, writer and digital content director for 11Alive News in Atlanta.
Addie, an Atlanta native, graduated in 2014 from Elon University in Elon, N.C. with a degree in broadcast journalism, and it was on Elon's campus where her interests in writing and video production took off.
At Elon, she was a member of the award-winning Elon Local News team, where she was a reporter, anchor and digital producer. She was also part of the inaugural staff of Elon's "The Edge" magazine; participated in international research projects in Geneva, Switzerland and Hong Kong, China; and finished off her senior year with a fellowship grant to Quito, Ecuador from the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting to report on the country's education system.
As an international studies minor, Addie's curiosity in global affairs pushed her to study abroad in Istanbul, Turkey, where she traveled throughout the nation and neighboring countries to learn about geo-politics, history and culture of the region.
As a college student, Addie quickly found her footing in the news industry, going from covering election night for the 2012 North Carolina governor's race and "running" for NBC News during the network's coverage of the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. She topped that experience off with internships at NBC Nightly News in New York City and WRAL.com in Raleigh, N.C.
In 2015, after graduating, Addie landed a position as a digital content producer at 11Alive. There, she was integral in growing and developing 11Alive’s digital footprint - from establishing performance benchmarks for the weekends as the station’s first weekend digital producer, to growing the station's social media following with strategic story production and posts. In her six years there, she gained sound experience following and developing breaking news, weather, election, and special event coverage. She even won a Southeast Regional EMMY Award in the breaking news category in 2020 for her role in following a deadly standoff in Henry County.
As a digital journalist who has held multiple leadership roles, including as a digital executive producer and interim digital director at TEGNA's ABC affiliate WFAA in Dallas, Addie relishes the ability to ask questions on a daily basis and constantly learn about new people, ideas, and concepts - always seeking the answer to "The Why."
When she is not leading a team of digital journalists or producing content for 11Alive.com, Addie enjoys music, watching plays, exploring new places, spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, crafting and caring for her numerous plants. She is also a self-professed space and astronomy geek.
