ATLANTA — Joe Ripley joined the 11Alive News team as a Reporter/Multimedia Journalist in October 2020. It's a homecoming for Joe, as he grew up in the Atlanta area.
Joe came to 11Alive from WYFF-TV in Greenville, South Carolina, where he anchored and reported for the top-rated station in the market. He has interviewed President Trump and covered vice presidential, congressional and gubernatorial campaign events. He has also covered severe weather, including hurricanes and winter storms, across the Carolinas and Georgia.
In 2018, Joe led the TODAY Show with live breaking news coverage of a clubhouse collapse at a Clemson apartment complex.
Before Greenville, Joe worked in Columbus, Georgia at WRBL-TV. Starting as a digital content producer, Joe was quickly promoted to weekend anchor and multi-media journalist.
Joe is a graduate of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.
Joe is an avid and forgiving sports fan, following the Atlanta Falcons, Braves, Hawks and Georgia Bulldogs. He enjoys singing, playing the piano and guitar. In his spare time, Joe likes to explore new places, hike and down a good meal. He also has way too many books than he should have.
