Molly Oak is a reporter for 11Alive Morning News. In sixth grade, Molly decided she wanted to be a TV reporter. Fast forward a lot of years later, and she’s still doing what she loves!

Molly graduated from the University of North Carolina (GO HEELS!) with a degree in broadcasting and a focus in sports communication. She minored in history. While she’s not getting paid to talk about sports anymore, you’ll find her spending most of her free time playing beach volleyball or cheering for her favorite teams (Gators fan—sorry, Georgia).

Before she landed at job at 11Alive in April 2022, Molly worked at KVUE News in Austin, Texas where she received a couple of Emmy nominations, most for her coverage of the mass shooting at Sutherland Springs. Texas Associated Press Broadcasters named Molly runner-up in the “Specialty/Beat Reporting” category for her reporting on homelessness in Austin and in the state. Molly started at WECT News in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she was named runner-up for “Reporter of the Year” by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.

Aside from playing sports, Molly also loves anything on the water (born and raised a Florida girl), exploring her new city with her dog, Roy, and learning about Georgia’s history.
