For the better part of 30 years, Phil Hendrix has worked in local television newsrooms both big and small. He worked his way up from his starting role as a photojournalist to various management roles, including managing editor at WXYZ in Detroit, where he led the desk during that time. He most recently worked at the network level with the Black News Channel and TheGrio as a Senior Producer.
Phil has earned the reputation of being a strong newsroom leader, who is passionate about helping others reach their full potential as journalists. He prides himself on being competitive, some of which comes from being a former collegiate football player at Central Michigan University.
Phil is a Flint, Michigan native and the proud father of two collegiate women's basketball players (One at Florida A&M University and the other at Loyola University Chicago).
