ATLANTA — Atlanta moviegoers now have a full list of the titles playing at the 2024 Atlanta Film Festival.
This year, the festival and its annual Creative Conference for educational programming will take place from April 25 to May 5.
According to the Atlanta Film Society, 118 countries will be represented among the work screened, with 24% of those films having ties to Georgia filmmakers.
In total, festival goers will have the opportunity to check out up to 142 works in a wide variety of genres and formats.
"In its 48th edition, our city's longest-running celebration of cinema will offer audiences a fascinating and diverse array of feature and short films across a variety of genres and topic from both around Georgia and the world. Attendees will enjoy 10 days of in-person screenings, many with filmmakers in attendance, and then a whole virtual week to be able to catch some at home too," Executive Director Christopher Escobar said.
Notable titles
"The Idea of You" (Opening Night Presentation)
Based on the bestselling novel of the same name, this one stars Anne Hathaway as a 40-year-old single mom who develops an unexpected romance with the lead singer of the hottest boy band on the planet.
"Sing Sing" (Closing Night Presentation)
Fresh off his recent Oscar nomination, Colman Domingo stars as Davine G, a man imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit who finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men.
"I Saw the TV Glow"
One of the buzziest titles out of this year's Sundance Film Festival, this one centers around a mysterious late-night TV show that begins to crack the reality of a teen living in the suburbs.
"Luther: Never Too Much"
This documentary chronicles the life of musician Luther Vandross from his childhood to worldwide fame.
