ATLANTA -- Atlanta's James David Carter thanked his supporters after being sent home from The Voice on Wednesday.
Carter took the live stage Monday on The Voice in hopes of making it to the next phase of the reality singing competition, but in the end didn't make the cut.
11Alive caught up with him via Skype in L.A. during the busy rehearsals for Monday's live show. "It's exciting. There's a lot, like a hundred different things going on at one time that you gotta roll with, but it's fun," Carter said.
When asked about his coach, Blake Shelton, he said what you see on TV is what he's like in person: "Blake's super cool. Everything you think Blake would be, what you see him on TV, that's who he is. He's very genuine, down to earth."
He wasn't able to reveal too much about Monday night's performance, but he did give away a few clues: "This song, which I'm unable to reveal what it is, it's something I grew up listening to so it's something I think a lot of people, especially those that like country music, will definitely know this song. It's going to be fun."
He also said fans should expect a change of pace: "We collaborated together and came up with something that's going to be real fun and lighthearted. Up to this point I've done some slower songs, which have all been good representations of who I am, but I'm excited to be able to kinda show a little more lighthearted piece of my personality."
