Atlantans ring in the New Year at The Battery

Despite there being no Peach Drop, people made their own plans.

ATLANTA — Atlanta is celebrating New Year's Eve.

The Battery was packed most of Sunday since early afternoon. The crowd grew in anticipation of their Big Bash this evening.

Tyler Stanley and his family spent time together all day.

"We have some fireworks left over from the 4th of July," Stanley said. "So, we're going to do that, in the backyard, tonight."

Others are keeping it low-key.

"Go out, probably, for dinner," One visitor said. "Maybe have a cocktail. And I'll go out with my daughters and my grands."

One of the biggest New Year's Eve celebrations, Atlanta's Peach Drop, is a no-go this year. There was a Peach Fest instead.

"I'm kind of disappointed, too, because I wanted to try and go," a visitor said.

Stanley said he was never interested in going. Instead, he and his daughter, Virginia, made other plans.

"Stay up and watch the ball drop," six-year-old Virginia said.

That sleep schedule will come back in handy when school starts again. Virginia said she's been working on an education resolution in one subject in particular: science.

Tyler has got his eyes on the gym.

"I want to work out, work out more, stay healthy in the new year," Tyler said.

Most people struggle with weight loss as a resolution. Tyler said he usually gets a good start.

"Until about February or March," Tyler said.

Some believe when you put God at the forefront, any New Year's Resolution is possible, especially when you plan it all out.

"Praying harder, worshipping God harder, taking care of myself better, and just praying for peace, prosperity," one visitor said.

What everyone can get on board with is joy and having a Happy New Year.
