ATLANTA — Editor's note: The video above is from when Jada Pinkett Smith revealed she's been separated from Will Smith for years.
Jada Pinkett Smith is coming to Atlanta for "an intimate conversation with readers" of her recently released book "WORTHY."
The event is set for Oct. 23 at the Buckhead Theatre from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. According to Ticketmaster, the event is $50 to attend, and every ticket includes a copy of the book.
In "Worthy," Jada Pinkett Smith candidly shares her extraordinary life journey, from a rebellious youth in Baltimore to Hollywood success, marriage to Will Smith, and motherhood. Her memoir defies societal norms, offering an intimate look into her experiences, choices, and the quest for authenticity, coupled with insightful prompts for self-discovery.
The release of her book comes after a recent revelation that she and Will Smith had been living separately for seven years and are essentially divorced.
This news came in an interview with TODAY Show host Hoda Kotb as she promotes the book.
Kotb and Pinkett Smith shared this exchange:
- Kotb: "It was not a divorce on paper."
- Pinkett Smith: "Right."
- Kotb: "...but it was a divorce."
- Pinkett Smith: "Divorce."
Pinkett Smith added she and Will Smith have not previously revealed this about their relationship because it was about "just not being ready yet... Still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership ... In regards to, how do we present that to people? We hadn't figured that out."
The revelation comes roughly a year-and-a-half after Will Smith's infamous slap of Chris Rock at the Oscars as he joked about about Pinkett-Smith's hair-loss disorder. The episode put a spotlight on the couple's relationship, which had faced previous allusions to distance between them.
