Music venue releases statement after confusion at Kenny Chesney concert

The venue released a statement after many fans said they were told the show had been canceled due to severe weather.

ST. LOUIS — Kenny Chesney was back in St. Louis last night but some fans were unable to see the full show.

Chesney took the stage Thursday night at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre - St. Louis as part of his "Sun Goes Down 2024" tour. After the country star took the stage, storms rolled into the area bringing rain and lightning.

The concert went into a weather delay due to the conditions in the area. Fans were told to "shelter in place or proceed to the nearest exit and seek shelter in your vehicles," according to the venue's Facebook page.

Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre later posted the show would resume around 10 p.m. But, some fans took to the comment section to say that that wasn't what they were told.

In multiple comments, fans said they were told by staff and crew that the show had been canceled, many leaving the venue.

Chesney returned to the stage shortly after 10 p.m. and finished the show late into the evening after the severe weather.

Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre released the following statement:

"Given the severe weather conditions at last night’s Kenny Chesney concert, we advised fans to seek shelter in their vehicles and provided shelter-in-place options to ensure their safety while the storm passed. We re-opened gates within an hour. We understand there was some miscommunication between fans and staff, and we are actively responding to everyone who has reached out regarding their experience.
