ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Country music icon Willie Nelson will no longer be performing during Friday night's concert in Alpharetta after he became sick, according to a social media post by venue host Ameris Bank Amphitheatre.
The 91-year-old Nelson was set to perform along with music legends Bob Dylan and Robert Plant, along with multiple other musicians. Nelson, however, was the headliner of the entire show.
Officials said that Nelson has been advised by his doctor to rest for the next four days. After that, he is expected to rejoin the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week. Lukas Nelson and the Family Band will perform a special set on Friday night that includes Willie's classics and other songs, concert officials said.
Dylan is known as one of the greatest songwriters of all time over his 60-year career, and Plant is best known for being the lead singer of the rock band Led Zeppelin.
Tickets for the event are still going for over $100 with fees on secondary ticket sites such as StubHub, despite the last-second announcement that Nelson wasn't feeling well. It's unclear what type of illness Nelson is dealing with.
Nelson put out the following statement on his X account on Friday afternoon following the news:
