STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — People can learn about Indigenous culture this week in an annual pow wow and festival.
The Native American Festival at Stone Mountain Park starts Tuesday and runs through Sunday. Several tribes will be represented, according to a news release, and is marketed as the largest gathering of its kind in Georgia.
It brings people together at the park's Historic Square, showcasing dance, music, interactive educational displays, craft demonstrations, cooking traditions, storytelling and wildlife presentations.
The festival comes as the nation ushers in Native American Heritage Month, which pays tribute to the ancestry and traditions of Indigenous tribes. It's recommended people learn about the tribal land they live on and the heritage that lives on today.
