Tyler Perry's beloved Madea character will soon star in her tenth and final film. But over her 20-year run, she's never been able to capture the elusive Academy Award...or has she?
Well, there's one very official-looking photo inside the home of the Oscars that would say she did.
While at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday night to present the Oscar for Best Cinematography, Tyler Perry revealed there's a portrait of Madea in the green room.
The filmmaker, actor, and comedian said he had put up the fake picture of Madea posing with Oscar statues when he played at the Dolby theater earlier in the year, but figured it would've been taken down by now.
"I thought for sure the academy would have taken it down. Imagine my shock last night when I saw the photo still up. Too funny," Perry shared on Twitter.
During the 91st Academy Awards, Perry also called out the organization over its original plan not to air four different categories.
"It is a true honor for me to present this next award live on camera, not during the commercial break - thank you, Academy," Perry joked. The award wound up going to Alfonso Cuaron for "Roma."
