FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — For the third year in a row, the Fulton County Sheriff's Foundation has headed out into the community for its "Shop with a Sheriff" event on Saturday.
The initiative, led by Sheriff Patrick "Pat" Labat, gives 250 Fulton County children a holiday shopping experience alongside law enforcement officers to promote positive community relations.
“We are excited for the opportunity to provide children in need with a brighter Christmas, and we hope this lessens the burden of making the holidays special for their caregivers," Labat said.
The shopping event, not open to the public, gives each child a $150 gift card for their holiday shopping.
“Target takes pride in serving and strengthening our communities, as shown in our dedication of nearly one million volunteer hours enterprise-wide this year," said Ron Brown, vice president of community impact at Target. "That includes nearly 12,000 hours across greater Atlanta and more than 2,000 volunteer hours in Fulton County. Today’s event fosters meaningful collaboration and the opportunity to co-create community solutions with local leaders.”
It's scheduled to kick off at 8 a.m., with opening remarks from Labat and Brown. The event promises additional holiday cheer with appearances by Bullseye, Target's official mascot, Freddie Falcon from the Atlanta Falcons, and the Coca-Cola polar bear.
