ATLANTA – Garth Brooks plays the first of seven shows in Atlanta on Friday night.

It's the first show in Atlanta in 18 years for the country music superstar.

Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, have seven shows set for Phillips Arena over two weekends.

On Friday, Brooks greeted the media from The Zone at the Children's Health of Atlanta -- a play area he helped fund.

They kicked off their world tour in Chicago recently. Brooks said doing two shows a night isn't as exhausting as it sounds.

"I've worked for a living before, this ain't working," Brooks said.

Brooks announced his new album will be released in November, on his digital music company Ghost Tunes, but don't look for it on iTunes.

"I'm just looking for a place that doesn't tell you how to sell your stuff." Brooks said. "We're an albums-oriented artists, so I'm looking for a place that allows me to set the price if I want it higher or lower – whatever I want to do."

Yearwood, who also has a new album out, said she enjoys touring with her husband.

"Usually when you're on tour, you're just missing the person that you're away from at home, because we're together and we get to be together and see other every night, it's the best," she said.

Tickets to some shows at Philips Arena are still available. To learn more go to ticketmaster.com/GarthBrooks or GarthBrooks.com.
