ATLANTA — Several Morehouse College alumni are not only representing their historically Black college but the ATL as they hit the big stage to find out if they will take home a prestigious GRAMMY award on Sunday.
Khalil 'DJ Khalil' Abdul-Rahman, David 'DJ Dos Dias' Bishop, Nathaniel 'Nate 'Rocket' Wonder' Irvin, Charles 'Chuck Lightning' Joseph, Will 'DJ Willy Wow' March, Tim Maxey and PJ Morton were all nominated for awards back in November.
Each metro Atlanta producer was nominated for their work with major R&B and hip-hop artists, including Jon Batiste, Janelle Monae, Summer Walker and Kendrick Lamar.
The college's first-ever GRAMMY-winning alumnus was Martin Luther King Jr., who posthumously won the award for Best Spoken Word Recording at the 13th award ceremony in 1971. King won for his "Why I Oppose The War in Vietnam" speech.
Several of the Morehouse alumni nominated for awards this year either previously won or were nominated for past GRAMMY awards for their songwriting and musicianship work.
