The husband and wife team behind HGTV's Flip or Flop shocked fans by announcing their separation Monday.
The announcement comes six months after police were called to their home over what the couple called an "unfortunate misunderstanding."
Just a few days after dropping the bombshell, Tarek and Christina El Moussa graced the cover of People magazine with the title of, "A Marriage Explodes."
The cover story is the couple's first interview since the reveal of their split. While the story doesn't go too in depth behind their decision, it answers a few questions about the night police were called as well as details leading up to their announcement.

In the article, the couple says they haven't been together since May 23, when 11 police cars and a helicopter were dispatched to their California home. The couple says that the incident was all a misunderstanding as Tarek was going on a hike and took a gun for protection from mountain lions, bobcats and rattlesnakes.
They also addressed the weapons overturned to the police saying the five firearms were kept "unloaded and in a locked gun safe."
As for fans who are wondering what's in store for Christina and Tarek's personal lives and their HGTV show, the couple told People that they have been dating since their separation but it's nothing serious. The couple plans to continue their professional lives together and are currently filming for the show and are releasing a book in March.
