ATLANTA — An actor who hunted zombies on TV for years is selling his Atlanta house.
Norman Reedus, star in the long-running and Georgia-filmed FX series "The Walking Dead," is asking $3.8 million for his modern estate in Serenbe, according to a listing by Compass Real Estate. Adelyn Bartlett is the listing agent.
A trust associated with previous Reedus real estate transactions bought the house in 2015 for $2.9 million, according to Fulton County property records.
Reedus played Daryl Dixon in "The Walking Dead" in 174 episodes from 2010 to 2022. Last year, he starred in a spinoff series called "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon." Reedus has been acting professionally since 1992, according to movie and TV database IMDB.
The Serenbe house was built in 2009. It has four bedrooms and five bathrooms and spans more than 4,100 square feet, per the listing. It sits on one-quarter of an acre.
New York City-based architect Shamir Shah designed the house. Shah took influence from famed 20th century architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The exterior is made of limestone and granite. Inside is an open floor plan, numerous windows to let in natural light, and wide-plank white oak floors meant to create a California-inspired ambiance.
The main level includes a sitting room with a gas fireplace and a powder room off the foyer, as well as two guest bedrooms suites.
The kitchen features a large island with natural quartzite stone, high-end appliances and a large walk-in pantry. An adjacent dining room is incorporated into the main living space.
The living room has a wall of windows and three glass doors with access to a screened porch and stone fireplace. Other outdoor amenities include a courtyard with a trickling stream, outdoor kitchen and dining area, and a plunge pool which can be used as a spa.
The primary bedroom suite is on the second level. Its bathroom includes dual vanities and a soaking tub that are made of Siberian marble. There is a large shower. The bedroom has a walk-in closet with a dressing area and additional clothes storage. An office and laundry room sit adjacent to the primary suite.
The terrace level is finished with an entertainment space, dining area and wet bar with beverage refrigerator. It features polished concrete floors.
The basement level has a fourth bedroom suite with its own exterior door, as well as a gym and storage space. There is a bonus room and bathroom above the two-car garage.
Serenbe is the creation of Atlanta bar and restaurant aficionado Steve Nygren. The community has hundreds of homes, boutique shops, eateries and a 25-acre organic farm.
Serenbe's residential component is expected to roughly double over the next decade. This is due to surging demand since the onset of the pandemic. As CEOs and other executives began working away from offices in recent years, purpose-built communities away from busy cities grew in popularity.
In 2019, the median home price in Serenbe was less than $630,000, according to First Multiple Listing Service data. Last year, Serenbe's median price was about $990,000.
