ATLANTA — A first-of-its-kind rollercoaster will debut at Six Flags Over Georgia this summer and it's certain to make a big splash.
On Thursday, officials with the amusement park revealed the winning name of its new coaster after thousands of fans voted. Officials added they received over 2,500 name suggestions, and more than 27,000 votes were cast for the top name-- with the winner being: Georgia Surfer.
“We’d like to thank our fans for the overwhelming response to our coaster announcement and naming campaign,” Operations Director Spencer Lucas said. ”We received a record number of name suggestions and votes cast, and we’ve been blown away by the hype surrounding this new attraction. We can’t wait for everyone to experience Georgia Surfer this summer.”
The new Ultra Surf coaster will be a combination of a rollercoaster and a water ride. It was created by Intamin Amusement Rides and the coaster offers ultra-power and "the ultimate theme park surf experience," Six Flags Over Georgia said in a release.

Construction has been taking place in the former Splashwater Falls area -- next to Thunder River and Pandemonium.
The Georgia Surfer will launch riders forward and backward along nearly 590 feet of track -- reaching speeds up to 60mph. The ride will then hit a high peak of 144 feet before coasting back into a splash pool.
"Free-spinning seats ensure no two rides are alike," officials added in the release.
