ATLANTA — As social distancing leaves millions around the world quarantined in their homes, some musicians are bringing the party inside and online.
On Monday, Atlanta's mayor signed a second executive order requiring restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters, clubs, and other public gathering spots to limit their occupancy to no more than 50 people.
#TogetherAtHome started Monday when Grammy award-winning band Coldplay live-streamed an intimate cellphone concert with frontrunner Chris Martin.
"I was supposed to be with the band Coldplay today from which I come but they are stuck in different countries, so we can't play together. So I thought what would be nice would be to check in with some of you out there and see where you are and what I can do for you ... so I'm here at your service for the next 20-some minutes,” Martin said.
The band’s Instagram tagged Global Citizen and the World Health Organization before performing acoustic versions of popular songs “Yellow” and “Trouble”.
In that same Instagram, he also tagged John Legend who will perform an Instagram Live concert for #TogetherAtHome on Tuesday.
“My friend Chris Martin did a lovely little concert from home today. I'll be doing one tomorrow at 1 pm Pacific time. See you soon. We'll try to get through this together! #TogetherAtHome,” Legend wrote in a Twitter post.
Legend also shared in Tweet that his Chrissy Teigan will make a cameo during their intimate concert at home.
Singer Katherine McPhee also joined her husband David Foster for a concert at home.
