Atlanta hip-hop community mourns exec Cutty Cartel

Rapper T.I. went to social media to express condolences for the star.

On August 30, 2019, the Music Industry loss an Icon, Grammy-Nominated recording Artist Ricardo Donte' Lewis aka "Cutty Cartel".

Several of Atlanta’s biggest names in the hip-hop community are sharing tributes to Ricardo Donte Lewis, also known as Cutty Cartel, who died on August 30.

In a statement released by Shelley "Que" Roebuck, Lewis is listed as a Grammy-nominated recording artist.

In the past years, Cutty Cartel has been continuing to work throughout the Atlanta music scene on an executive level and with international artists worldwide.

“As he was enjoying time with his loved ones on August 29, 2019, he started not to feel well, and informed his mother he was going to go lay down and rest,” Roebuck wrote in the statement. “He spent his last moments laughing and spending intimate time with close members of the family, and later in the day, was rushed to Emory Dekalb Medical where he was treated for cardiac arrest.”

Lewis was also a film producer, author, photographer, videographer and director.

He is most known for his feature on Youngbloodz hit single “85,” and also for his Grammy nomination on legendary artist Big Boi’s debut solo single "Shutterbugg."

Rapper T.I. went to social media to express condolences for the star.

Lewis had a book, new music and several other projects in the works.

In an official statement, his mother Phylis Lewis said, "I am thankful for all the love and support from family and long-time friends. I am at peace."

The family would like to thank everyone for their support during this time.
