Shawn Mendes made a local girl’s dream come true after meeting the superstar at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
The singer wanted to make someone’s day before his tour performance at the State Farm Arena.
Mendes, whose duet with Camila Cabello, “Senorita” is climbing the Billboard Hot 100, took selfies with fans including 17-year-old Catherine Williams.
In May, Williams was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of cancer that produces immature bones. She has been receiving treatment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta since.
Her dream came true thanks to to radio show "PK In The Morning."
The golden opportunity arose when morning-show host PK asked the hospital if they knew of any Shawn Mendes fans. Nurses instantly knew who to pick.
From there, the hospital, PK and Catherine’s mother came together to devise the best way to surprise her.
“I was so surprised when I first heard about it. I had no idea it was going to happen,” Williams said.
The night will be a triple-success for Williams because she will hear her favorite song from Mendes - "In My Blood" - as the final track of the show.
“I’m definitely most excited about meeting him. I’ve never met somebody that famous before,” Williams said.
Every year between 800 and 900 new cases of osteosarcoma are diagnosed in the United States.
