ATLANTA — It’s time for the A-Scene! Your premiere source for entertainment news in Atlanta and first up is a television series that’s set to bring back the music of the disco era!
BET’S AMERICAN SOUL FILMING IN ATLANTA
Production for BET’s “American Soul” kicked off a few weeks ago in Atlanta. The scripted drama series chronicles the untold rise of ‘Soul Train’. Inspired by the personal trials and professional successes of a young, ambitious and troubled Don Cornelius, the 70s period drama is an unflinching look at the entrepreneur, his soul train dancers, and musicians set against the backdrop of a cutthroat Hollywood.
Kelly Price and Kelly Rowland will pull double duty on the music-based series, showcasing both their incredible voices and acting chops.
THE MULE GETS RELEASE DATE
And next up is a Clint Eastwood film that’s being produced right here in Atlanta! Our A-Scene insiders on Facebook have been helping us follow the production notices, casting calls, and post production for ‘The Mule’ for several weeks now.
Warner Brothers announced ‘The Mule’ will open nationwide in theaters on December 14. The mule tells the story of Earl Stone (Eastwood), a man in his 80s who is broke, alone and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive.
What he discovers is that he has just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. Eastwood will star alongside Dianne Wiest, Michael Pena, Andy Garcia, Laurence Fishburne, Alison Eastwood, and Bradley Cooper also has a small role.
SEASON 8 PREMIERE OF ‘THE WALKING DEAD’
And next up is a glimpse of the new season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” filmed right outside of Atlanta in Senoia, Georgia! Fresh episodes of the fictional Woodbury town will air October 7.
The A-Scene will be joining fans next Sunday during a 24-hour live stream dedicated to Andrew Lincoln of The Walking Dead. You want to follow our A-scene Instagram account for the action!
