ATLANTA (WXIA) – Variety magazine said Tuesday that transgender model Amiyah Scott has been cast in the upcoming season of the Bravo reality series Real Housewives of Atlanta. Bravo has not confirmed the reports, however.
Variety says the casting marks the first transgender woman to be featured in the Real Housewives franchise, which at present, includes television series set in Atlanta, Beverly Hills, New Jersey, New York City, Orange County and international editions in Melbourne, Australia and Cheshire, England. The American editions air on Bravo, while the Australian edition airs on the Australian channel Arena and the UK edition airs on the British network ITVBe.
Bravo has not commented on casting rumors regarding the franchise, but in an article, Variety says it learned from "insiders" that Scott attended an event on Monday with the cast, where she was filming elements for the upcoming season.
The rumored addition to the Real Housewives cast would be to replace original series cast member NeNe Leakes, who had previously announced that she was leaving the series at the end of the show's seventh season, which concluded in May.
The season premiere of Real Housewives of Atlanta is expected in October.
