Usher developing series based on his music and set in Atlanta

The news comes days after the singer's Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.

The R&B superstar and Atlanta native Usher announced Wednesday that he's working to develop a dramatic TV series based on his music.

The news comes days after the singer's Super Bowl Halftime Show performance

According to Variety, the show's production is in partnership with Universal Studio Group’s UCP and will center around “Black love in Atlanta and individuals looking to find a place to call home,” per the official logline.

Variety said it is unclear if Usher will appear in the series in any capacity, but he's no stranger to the big screen, having appeared in dozens of TV shows and movies, including "The Voice" and "Hustlers."

Usher begins his 24-city next tour, “Past Present Future,” on August 20 in Washington, DC. The tour, which includes shows in Atlanta on Oct. 17,18 and 20 at State Farm Arena, will wrap on October 29.  He dropped his ninth album, “Coming Home,” earlier this month.
