ATLANTA — Broadway hit "Wicked" is back again to amaze audiences in Atlanta at the Fabulous Fox. But before the Broadway performers can "Defy Gravity" on stage, the entire set has to be loaded into the theater.
And it's no simple feat.
It takes an entire crew to transform the Fox into the Land of Oz. 11Alive got a behind-the-scenes look as stage crews installed the set for the hit Broadway musical, Tuesday.
Crews unloaded 13 semi-trailers to get the musical ready for opening night, Wednesday.
"It's kind of organized chaos - it's like Tetris back there," explained Steve Quinn.
The show's company manager said they started Monday at 8 a.m. to begin unloading the set. It takes nearly two and a half days to put together and they're working right up until show time.
"Everything has a place and all the guys that are working - there's probably 80 people back there making sure we get this show up," he said.

But Quinn said it's all worth the work to see the final product.
"It's nice when you come into this theater - which is so beautiful. You see the dragon and map of Oz," he described. "You just know you're going to go somewhere different for about two and a half hours. You're going to leave your cares behind."
"Wicked" opened Wednesday night, and runs through Nov. 17.
Tickets start at $43, plus fees. There's also a digital lottery where audience members can enter for a chance to purchase tickets for $25.
