Hundreds of Atlanta high schoolers participate in Say Yes to the Prom

The Say Yes to the Prom initiative began 12 years ago to help students develop their own unique prom look and style.

ATLANTA — You've probably heard of "Say Yes to the Dress," but have you heard of Say Yes to the Prom?

Hundreds of high schoolers in Atlanta had a chance to pick out their prom dresses and tuxedos at Warner Brothers' Techwood campus on Monday. They also got hair and makeup consultations from CNN stylists and TLC host of Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta Monte Durham.

"The students are really going through the racks, getting the perfect prom dress, tuxedos," Durham said. "We have a lot of really great things to share with these students today. They can find prom perfection."

The Say Yes to the Prom initiative began 12 years ago to help students develop their own unique prom look and style.

This year, the event was sponsored by Macy's and Men's Wearhouse. Cosmetics were also donated by Glamnetic, Glamlite, Lottie London, and L’Oréal, including fragrances, makeup, and other cosmetic tools.

"We're beyond honored and proud to be able to reach out into these communities and do a service for these young and very talented students," Durham added.

Kelly Ramsey, a Geometry teacher at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate High School, said he was excited to see his students' prom dreams come true.

"For us to walk in and go into that first room to the Say Yes to the Prom, it was like 'Wow," Ramsey said. "Everyone's faces just lit up."
