BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. — The Butts County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a bear that has been seen in the area repeatedly.

According to a Facebook post from Sheriff Gary Long, the bear has been in the area of Fincherville and Buster Brown roads. The sheriff even recently spotted the bear in his driveway.

According to the post, the Department of Natural Resources advised that it is common for bears to travel through that area from the North Georgia Mountains to the bear population south of Macon.

"They will not do anything unless the bear becomes a nuisance," the post added.

Residents are asked not to leave dog food outside or other things that could potentially attract bears.
