Man charged with animal cruelty after leaving dog in stolen car

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A man is facing charges after Hall County authorities said he left a dog in a stolen car.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office charged 24-year-old Jihad Abdul Karim with cruelty to animals and theft by receiving.

On May 25, deputies arrested Karim in the 7000 block of Lake Lanier Islands Parkway after they said he was in possession of a stolen vehicle. That's when they located the suspect's dog inside of the car; all of the windows and doors were closed.

Law enforcement said the Hall County Animal Control responded and took the dog from the scene. The sheriff's office said the dog is fine.

The case is still under investigation.
