The zoo is asking for votes in its Rhino Sweet Sixteen Bracket.

ATLANTA — The excitement is building at Zoo Atlanta as "Rhino Naming Madness" kicks into high gear! Round one is underway as people eagerly make their picks to name the first southern white rhino ever born at the zoo.

The 12-week-old female calf, born on Christmas Eve, has been exploring the habitat with her mother, Kiazi. Recent milestones include the calf's first mud wallow, providing delightful sightings for visitors.

Between March 7 and March 10, the zoo received over 4,000 name suggestions from the public. From these submissions, the naming committee selected seven names to join the nine suggestions from the Rhino Care Team, forming the Sweet Sixteen bracket.

Zoo officials say more than 2,200 votes have already been cast since March 20, and there's still time left to cast votes. Round 1 of public voting is open until 11:59 p.m. on March 26. Round 2 will follow, opening at 1 p.m. on March 27 and continuing until April 2.

The final round of voting will close on April 10, and the winning name will be revealed on April 11.
