DECATUR, Ga. -- If you consider yourself a "bird person" and find that volunteering is your thing, there's a special opportunity for your.
DeKalb County is looking for volunteers to take help take care of more than 300 parrots. These colorful creatures were seized during an investigation of an animal cruelty hoarding case back on July 13 of this year. Volunteers will be expected to help feed, water, clean, vacuum and everything else that comes with getting these birds back on their feet.
The best part is that there's no training or prior knowledge of bird law required. The only caveat is that volunteers cannot currently own a bird.
The seized birds are in the middle of a quarantined period which means the county doesn't want them to get sick.
Potential and hopeful volunteers can contact Janelle Kover at birdsareus@yahoo.com for more information.
And remember: volunteering is not for the birds.
