DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Video shows DeKalb County firefighters demonstrating their "purr-fect" compassion and rescue skills after saving a shivering and scared kitten from the perilous median of Atlanta's bustling Interstate 285 on Tuesday.
The heartwarming rescue unfolded while these heroes in action were en route to a hazmat call. After working their call, they spotted a feline friend stranded and terrified on the median. Firefighters unanimously decided to circle back and lend a helping paw to the distressed kitten.
Captain Almedin Kulo and the courageous crew comprising Joshua Andrews, Jesse Cole, and Stephen Krick sprang into action, demonstrating their commitment to protecting every living being in Dekalb County.
The rescue efforts were a success, and the grateful firefighters whisked the kitten back to the safety of their station. In a nod to her highway adventure, they endearingly named her Roadie.
The story took an extra-special turn when Firefighter Tyson Lewis', mother took Roadie home. Welcomed into their family with open arms, Roadie now enjoys the warmth and care that comes with being a cherished member of the fire family.
