***MADINA WILL BE CLOSED DURING RAMADAN***
There’s no need to take a cross continental trip to enjoy East African cuisine. In Stone Mountain, you’ll find Madina Restaurant, where the menu features favorites of Somalia.
At the Table ATL got a chance to sit down with Jibril Bulhan, manager of Madina, to learn more about traditional Somali dishes.
“How does this dish represent Somalia?”
“It’s goat meat fried,” Bulhan said. “Goat meat is big in Somalia. Most of the restaurants in there, in Somalia, that’s what they serve,” Bulhan said.
“Every lunch, that’s what we ate. Lunchtime, that’s where everybody goes,” Bulhan said.
“How does this dish represent Atlanta?”
The Stone Mountain restaurant may cater to East African cuisine but attracts customers of all backgrounds, according to Bulhan, who said customers return for the unique flavors.
“They love it. They really love it,” Bulhan said. “You can see the happiness in their eyes.”
