ATLANTA — Only one Georgia eatery made Yelp's Top 25 Hot & New Black-owned Restaurants list, and it happens to be right here in Atlanta.

Marcus Bar and Grille, founded by world-renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson in March 2023, came in at #20 on the list.

Nestled in the Old Fourth Ward on Edgewood Avenue, the vibrant neighborhood restaurant serves up "elevated comfort classics and ambitious signature dishes" with drinks and music, according to its website. Menu items instantly transport you into Atlanta's Black history with selections such as the 'Edgewood Brisket' and 'A-town Deviled Eggs' with drink pairings like 'The Dubois Daquiri.'

Many Yelpers praised the restaurant's brunch buffet, which runs on weekends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with one reviewer saying, "These beautiful cornbread waffles are waiting on you as the first item on the bar. It was filled with so many delicious options and everything had a wonderful taste."

Another user review said, "Had the chance to grab a last-minute reservation for a Sunday brunch, and I am glad I did!"

Samuelsson is no stranger to fine dining as he's won eight James Beard awards and is a longstanding judge on several cooking shows, including the hit Food Network show Chopped.

Yelp's list was determined by ranking participating Black-owned restaurants using a number of factors, including the total volume of ratings and reviews on the platform.
