New ice cream shop chain opening in Midtown Atlanta

The Ohio-based ice cream chain is hosting a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony at Midtown Promenade on Nov. 14 starting at 11 a.m.

ATLANTA — Handel's Homemade Ice Cream is expanding to Georgia and opening its first location in Midtown Atlanta on Thursday. 

The Ohio-based ice cream chain is hosting a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony at 931 Monroe Drive NE,  the Midtown Promenade, on Nov. 14 starting at 11 a.m. Handel's said the first 100 guests on Thursday will receive free ice cream for a year. There will also be a live DJ, a photo booth, prizes and more.

The Midtown ice cream shop is the first of several locations set to open in the Peach State, according to 11Alive's partner, the Atlanta Business Chronicle. A second shop is set to open in Buckhead in December.

Handel's is known for its rotating flavors, including brownie dough, birthday cake, blueberry cheesecake chunk, bananas foster and more. The ice cream chain also has vegan sorbets, sherbets, ices, hurricanes, and handle pops.
