ATLANTA -- Everybody likes free ice cream -- and with that in mind, head on down to the nearest Haagen-Dazs shop on Tuesday afternoon, where the retailer is hosting its annual "Free Cone Day."
Fans can get one free scoop of ice cream or sorbet in a cup, sugar cone or cake cone between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at participating locations.
Haagen-Dazs is dedicating this year's Free Cone Day to honey bees. The company has created a VR experience that allows visitors to view the world from a bee's perspective and to learn about the plight of the honey bee.
They are encouraging donations to the Xerces Society, which has a goal of planting 1 million acres of habitat for bees to survive. Haagen-Dazs points out that about a third of the food that humans eat are dependent on bees, but bees are disappearing around the world at an alarming rate.
Haagen-Dazs has six locations in metro Atlanta.
