Boy reports bike theft and Carrollton officers step in to save Christmas

The police lieutenant didn't feel comfortable just walking away and documenting the theft - so he stepped in to save the boy's Christmas

CARROLLTON, Ga. — After a supposed Grinch swiped a boy's beloved present on Christmas Day, a Carrollton police lieutenant worked to save the day.

On Christmas morning, Lt. Kenerly with the Carrollton Police Department received a report from an 11-year-old about a bike theft. The boy, who police identified as Brayden, said someone stole his Christmas gift: a brand new bicycle. The boy told police that the bike was swiped off his front porch, according to the department.

After leaving the call on Monday and filing a theft report, Kenerly couldn't get the case off his mind. Later, he and his fellow afternoon officers would return to Brayden's front porch - but this time, with a brand new bike.

"Brayden was so very grateful, but these guys got the best gift of the day: the gift of giving. Our hearts are full," the department said in a social media post.
