Looking to tie the knot? Here's how couples can get married for free on Valentine's Day

Couples looking to tie the knot this Valentine's Day must complete the following steps before the nuptials can begin.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — On the ultimate day of love, judges with DeKalb County Superior Court are offering free wedding ceremonies on Feb. 14.

Couples looking to tie the knot this Valentine's Day must complete the following steps before the nuptials can begin:

  • Apply for your marriage license. You can do so online here.
  • Book your appointment with the DeKalb County Probate Court to receive a physical copy of your license.
  • Send an email at keloder@dekalbcountyga.gov to Ms. Karen Loder to reserve your complimentary marriage ceremony slot.
  • Don't forget to bring your marriage license to the ceremony!

“On this day of love, we’re thrilled to offer couples a chance to celebrate their commitment without the added burden of financial considerations. Love should be celebrated freely, and we’re honored to facilitate that experience for our community,” Judge Yolanda Parker-Smith said in a release.

The judges hope this initiative will allow couples to focus on celebrating their love-- without breaking the bank.

“Love has the power to bind communities together. By offering complimentary marriage ceremonies, we hope to create lasting memories and strengthen the bonds within our local community," Judge Shondeana Morris added.
