MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A former Kernersville officer saved a man's life while on vacation at Myrtle Beach during Fourth of July.
Sean Houle was with his wife watching their kids playing in the sand when they noticed a man laying on the beach unresponsive.
They discovered the man had gotten swept away by a rip current and had almost drowned.
Houle wasted no time jumping into action, he ran to the man, and began giving him rescue breaths.
Other people on the beach also were helping the man by doing CPR.
A rescue team eventually came and took the man to the hospital.
The next day the Houle family returned to the beach and asked a lifeguard for updates about the man who had almost drowned.
The lifeguard said the man had also returned to the beach that day.
Sean Houle and the man were able to reunite.
"I guarantee you if you would have seen this man yesterday, you'd be as shocked as I am. But God is still working miracles," the family said in a social media post.
Houle was serving as an officer in Kernersville when he was shot during a traffic stop in 2021.
